I think you’re right to be skeptical. The SC430 is a great car, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not like it’s a rare Ferrari or something. The Pebble Beach Edition is nice for bragging rights, but when you’re buying a 19-year-old convertible, condition and service records matter way more than special edition trim. I’d want to see full maintenance logs before even considering $20K.
