      Hey everyone, I’ve been doing some research on rocker arm materials and I’m curious what the real differences are between steel and aluminum options. I’m looking at upgrading my engine setup and want to make an informed decision before dropping money on new components.

      From what I’ve read, steel rocker arms are traditionally more durable and can handle higher valve spring pressures, while aluminum versions offer weight savings and better heat dissipation. But here’s my question: does that weight reduction actually translate to noticeable performance gains for a street engine, or is it more of a track-day thing?

      I’ve also seen conflicting information about longevity. Some sources claim aluminum wears faster, especially the contact surfaces with pushrods and valve stems. Others say modern manufacturing has eliminated those concerns. It’s tough to separate marketing hype from actual engineering facts.

      For most of us running stock or mildly modified engines, does the material choice really impact reliability, fuel efficiency, or power delivery? Or am I overthinking this and should just go with whatever matches my budget and engine configuration?

        Steel all the way for me. I’ve been running the same steel rocker arms on my 350 for over 15 years without any issues. The aluminum ones look nice but I’m not convinced the marginal weight savings justifies the potential durability concerns.
