Hi everyone, I wanted to bring this to the community’s attention because it affects a lot of us. According to recent reports, approximately one in three Chrysler minivans built since 2022 may have defective airbags. This includes both the Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager models. I’m genuinely concerned about this because airbags are critical safety systems. If they malfunction during a collision, it could have serious consequences for drivers and passengers. The recall affects a significant portion of vehicles produced in that timeframe, and many owners might not even know their vehicles are affected yet. I’ve been checking the official NHTSA database and Chrysler’s website, but information seems limited so far. Has anyone here experienced any issues with their Pacifica or Voyager? Have you received recall notices? I’d like to hear from other owners about their experiences and what steps they’re taking. It’s important that we share information and make sure everyone is aware of this potential safety issue. If you own one of these vehicles, I recommend checking your VIN on the Chrysler recall page or contacting your dealer directly. This is not something to ignore, especially if you have family members riding in these vehicles regularly. Let’s discuss what we know and what actions we should take as owners.
Just checked my 2023 Pacifica and found out mine is on the recall list. Been driving it for over a year with potentially faulty airbags. This is really unsettling. Scheduling an appointment at the dealer tomorrow.
One in three is a huge number. That’s not just a minor issue, that’s a widespread manufacturing problem. Chrysler needs to be more transparent about what went wrong in their quality control process.
I disagree with the panic here. Recalls happen all the time in the automotive industry. As long as Chrysler is addressing it promptly and covering the repairs, this shouldn’t be blown out of proportion. The vehicles are still drivable.
Does anyone know if the fix is a software update or do they need to replace hardware? My dealer told me it might take weeks to get parts. The maintenance cost for this should be completely covered by Chrysler, not the owners.
I have a 2022 Voyager and I’m scared now. Are there any symptoms I should be looking for? Can you tell if an airbag is defective before it deploys?
Thanks for the responses everyone. To answer your question ruba_diazy, unfortunately there aren’t obvious external signs of airbag defects. That’s why the recall is so important. From what I’ve read, the issue might be related to the sensor systems. I’d recommend not delaying on getting this checked out.
I work in automotive engineering and this kind of defect is usually caught during production testing. The fact that it made it to one in three vehicles is concerning and suggests either a testing oversight or a supplier issue.
My family uses our 2023 Pacifica for road trips constantly. Learning about this has me worried sick. We have three kids in the back seat regularly.
I’m taking mine in for service next week anyway, so I’ll have them check on this recall status at the same time. Better safe than sorry with airbags.
Honestly, I think people are overreacting. My vehicle hasn’t had any problems and Chrysler will fix it. These recalls are handled professionally all the time.
Has anyone tried calling their local Chrysler dealer yet? I’m wondering how long the repair takes and if I need to book far in advance.
This is exactly why I prefer buying used Japanese vehicles. Chrysler quality control has been questionable for years.
Just got off the phone with my dealer. They said they haven’t received the official repair procedure yet but will contact me when parts arrive. Could be 2-3 months.
The real question is why Chrysler is allowing vehicles with known defects to be sold for months. This seems like a corporate accountability issue to me.
