Hey everyone, I wanted to bring this absolute beauty to your attention. Just spotted this 2021 McLaren 720S Spider listed at no reserve on Bring a Trailer, and I think this could be an incredible opportunity for someone looking to own a seriously impressive supercar.

The 720S Spider is McLaren’s retractable hardtop convertible, combining their legendary performance with the ultimate open-air driving experience. This particular example appears to be in excellent condition with what looks like very reasonable mileage for the model year.

For those unfamiliar, the 720S Spider delivers 710 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine, capable of 0-60 mph in around 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 212 mph. The retractable hardtop is a sophisticated piece of engineering that operates in just 11 seconds, and the driving dynamics are genuinely exceptional whether you’re on a mountain road or cruising the highway.

The Spider variant really adds something special compared to the coupe. This is an absolute dream machine. The 720S Spider is pure McLaren perfection. The engineering on that retractable hardtop alone is worth the price of admission. I’d love to see where the bidding goes on this one. No reserve always creates excitement!

That twin-turbo V8 is insane. 710 horsepower from a 4.0L engine is ridiculous efficiency. The acceleration figures are genuinely supercar territory. If I had the capital, I’d be all over this auction.

I’m going to have to respectfully disagree here. While the 720S Spider is certainly impressive, for the money you could get into a Porsche 911 Turbo convertible and have better reliability and lower maintenance costs. The McLaren is beautiful but that’s a significant consideration.

The design is just stunning. McLaren really nailed the proportions on this generation. That aggressive front end and the curved surfaces are just perfection. Combined with the open-top experience, this has to be one of the best-looking modern supercars.

Speaking from experience, McLaren maintenance costs are NOT a joke. I looked into ownership and the service costs are astronomical. We’re talking several thousand dollars for routine maintenance. That’s something serious buyers need to factor in before bidding.

The mid-engine layout must make this handle like nothing else. The balance and precision you get from that configuration is supposed to be unmatched. For a convertible to maintain that level of performance and handling is really special.

No reserve on a McLaren this nice is pretty rare. Usually these get reserved at high numbers. I wonder what the final hammer price will be. This could go for serious money.

The retractable hardtop is genius engineering. You get the convertible experience without sacrificing structural rigidity. When it’s closed, you have the stiffness of a coupe. When it’s open, you get the freedom of a roadster. Best of both worlds.

Great questions everyone. To respond to tiffanyln – I haven’t seen it in person yet, just working from the BaT listing. But the photos look really clean and the condition appears genuine. The no-reserve aspect is what got my attention honestly. These things typically hold value incredibly well.

I have to push back a bit on the maintenance cost concern. Yes, McLarens are expensive to maintain, but if you’re buying a $300K+ vehicle, you’re already committed to significant ongoing costs. That’s just part of supercar ownership at this level.

2021 model year is perfect – new enough for all modern tech and warranty considerations, but far enough removed from production issues. If you’re going to buy a McLaren, 2021 is a sweet spot.

The fact that this is a Spider variant makes it extra special. The coupe is great but there’s something about a mid-engine convertible that just feels more exclusive. Not everyone can handle that amount of performance in an open-top configuration.
