Home › Forums › Longue › 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Exterior Photos Revealed – First Look at New Design
Hey everyone, I just found the official exterior gallery for the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class and wanted to share my initial impressions. The new design is a significant departure from the current generation, with a more aggressive front fascia and refined body lines throughout.
The most striking changes are the redesigned headlight cluster with what appears to be a new LED signature, the more sculpted hood, and an overall stance that looks sportier than before. The side profile maintains the GLE’s premium SUV proportions but adds more visual interest with new creases and character lines. The rear end features a completely redesigned taillight design that extends further into the body panels.
Mercedes seems to be pushing the GLE upmarket with these changes. The wheels in the photos look premium, and the overall silhouette suggests they’re emphasizing luxury and performance simultaneously. The paint finishes shown in the gallery really showcase how the new design catches light differently compared to the outgoing model.
I’m particularly impressed with how they’ve maintained the recognizable GLE DNA while giving it a thoroughly modern appearance. The grille design is more prominent but doesn’t overwhelm the front end like some of the newer BMW designs. The proportions between the greenhouse and the body look well-balanced.
What’s everyone’s take on these exterior updates? Are you impressed with the direction Mercedes is taking the GLE, or do you prefer the previous generation’s aesthetic?
The new headlights look incredible in these photos. That LED signature is pure premium design. Really elevates the whole front end compared to the current model.
I have to disagree with you on this one, Adrian. The new design feels over-complicated. The previous generation was cleaner and more elegant. This looks like they’re trying too hard to be aggressive.
Anyone else noticing the maintenance costs on these new Mercedes are getting ridiculous? Parts and labor are going to be expensive with all these complex design elements.
The side profile is absolutely stunning. Those new character lines really give it a sense of motion even when it’s standing still. Mercedes nailed it with this generation.
I’m torn. The front looks great, but the rear taillight design seems a bit too futuristic for my taste. Does anyone else feel like it doesn’t quite match the front?
This is exactly what the GLE needed. The previous generation was starting to feel dated. The 2027 refresh brings it into the modern era while keeping that luxury SUV presence.
The paint in these photos really shows off the new body lines. Especially that metallic finish on the silver model. The sculpting work Mercedes did here is impressive.
Not a fan of the direction honestly. It’s getting too angular and aggressive. I preferred when luxury SUVs had softer, more elegant lines. This feels like they’re chasing the performance crowd.
Adrian, great breakdown. The grille proportions really do look balanced compared to some competitors. The overall package looks cohesive.
Those wheels in the gallery are gorgeous. They complement the new body design perfectly. Really curious to see what options will be available on the production models.
The greenhouse to body ratio looks really well thought out. It maintains visibility while keeping that premium, planted stance. Nice design work from the Mercedes team.
Can we talk about the overall length? It looks slightly longer than the current generation. Anyone know if that’s actually the case?
Thanks for all the feedback everyone! Even those who disagree – the discussion is what makes these reveals exciting. I think whether you love or hate the design, it’s clear Mercedes put serious thought into this refresh.
The color options shown in these photos are fantastic. That matte gray really shows off the new design language. Mercedes is offering some premium paint finishes with this generation.
