Honestly this feels wrong to me. These cars belong in their original form. There are plenty of modern cars out there if you want new engine technology. Let’s preserve what we have left from that era instead of constantly modifying everything.
This is the wrong generation to track regularly, in my opinion. The handling is dated compared to what you can get now. Better to keep it as a weekend cruiser and preserve its value. These are becoming more collectible.
Just want to emphasize again – budget $1,500-2,000 annually for preventative maintenance on these. That’s before anything goes wrong. Factor it into your decision. It’s worth it for the car, but don’t be surprised.
The maintenance costs on these can add up fast. Just had my 2009 in the shop for a clutch replacement and brake service – ran me close to $3,500. Factor that in before purchasing. Porsche service isn’t cheap.
