Bottom line: BYD has proven it can compete globally. One market rejection doesn’t change that. They’ll continue dominating everywhere else. This feels like a short-term setback, not a strategic failure.
I actually disagree with everyone saying this is about quality. BYD makes solid vehicles. This is 100% a protectionist move by Japan to protect Toyota and Honda’s market share. Happens all the time in automotive.
