Maintenance cost on these Mercedes SUVs is brutal. Before anyone gets excited about all these new features, check your service records. OEM parts are expensive and the complexity of new systems means dealer service is almost mandatory. Just a heads up from experience.

The irony is that BYD supplies batteries to tons of Western manufacturers including Toyota. But they can’t sell their own branded vehicles there. Classic move by Japan – import the tech, block the competition.

This makes sense to me. Japan has always been fiercely protective of its domestic auto industry. Toyota and Honda aren’t going to let BYD waltz in without a fight. Plus, Japanese consumers tend to prefer reliability from established brands they’ve trusted for decades.
