The 4×4 drivetrain on these is bulletproof. I’m more concerned about interior condition and whether the AC still works. Replacing climate control components on older Fords can get expensive.
Timing is everything in this market. If JLR launches the new Freelander while the compact premium SUV boom is still strong, they could capture significant sales. Wait too long and the market could shift toward crossovers or different segments.
I disagree with pulling it as a project car. The Scion IQ was underpowered and cramped even when new. Unless you’re doing this for parts or a novelty build, I’d pass. There’s no collector value either, so resale would be a nightmare.
